Once upon a time there was a piece of software that did some stuff and you should totally buy it. The end.

Title: Telling stories about screens for screens
Context: Telling people about your software. One story at a time.
Synopsis: If someone were to ask you to tell them about the software that you designed what would you say? Would you run them through all of the features included in the application? Would you talk about the underlying technologies that power the core interactions? Would you discuss the evolution of your product and explain its benefits over the competition? How about instead of any of those things you instead decided to tell them a story. Maybe you could tell them a story of how your software came to be. Or perhaps you could tell them the story of how much easier their life is going to be simply by making the decision to start using your software. How about the story of how your software understand them and wants nothing more than to live happily ever after with them. Those are the things that really make people want to use software. That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.
Best Bit: “As videomakers trying to make stories about software (screens on screens), we have an obligation to invent whole new ways of doing it, just as we have a responsibility to tell the most interesting/effective stories we can.”
