Title: 6 Evil UX Things Companies Do (That Also Happen to Work)
Context: Dark side UX is the father of invention. Really crappy invention, but invention nonetheless.
Synopsis: User experience as a term is actually neutral. All it denotes is the interaction and workflow that people who engage with a product or service will be exposed to through that engagement, it intrinsically discloses nothing about the quality of that experience. We tend to view the practice of user experience as a benevolent enterprise with positive intentions to please end users above all else. Unfortunately, there is also a potential dark side to this practice. The only thing stopping the exercise of an insidious and ethically bankrupt version of user experience design is the inherent morality of the person constructing the experience. Alas, there are those among us who would put profit above pleasure, trickery before transparency, dishonesty in place of dignity. To borrow and modify a trite phrase, my fellow UX’ers, do not be evil…
Best Bit: “If you’re a business that does this, you should know, your users hate you and hope you go out of business.”
