Reality is overrated. Virtual is where it’s at. (I’m not even here BTW)

Title: The Virtual Designer
Context: All glory is fleeting. Digital designs are lucky to be a fraction of that.
Synopsis: We rarely work on anything concrete. Our designs are virtual, ethereal and, arguably, don’t even really exist at all. Yet we expend at least as much passion and dedication as any architect or furniture designer is capable of mustering, what with their “real” designs, that you can actually “touch”. But where’s our awards ceremonies and digital antique shops and museums? Ah who cares? We’ll still keeping doing what we’re doing even if some archaeologist thousands of years from now won’t be digging our work up. Unless of course, he unearths a CD-ROM with one of our UX designs saved on it. A virtual designer can dream, can’t he?
Best Bit: “… I am pretty sure that the fact that the designs we produce are temporary is one of the strongest thing that ties us, or sets us apart, as a branch of design.”
