Google’s UX manifesto. You could probably just Google it, but here’s the link instead.

Title: Google user experience
Context: The best mission statement I’ve read in a while. Which is like saying it’s the best bash in the face with a baseball bat I’ve received in a while, but still, pretty good considering.
Synopsis: Ever hear the one about the visual designer who quit Google because they wanted to test every single last decision he made including the right shade of blue to use for links? It’s funny because it’s batshiat crazy. Well, to hear Google’s side of the story, they aren’t always so pedantic about their user experience. Actually their stated UX aspirations and principles are soft and fuzzy enough to make even the most hard-hearted usability tyrant misty. Written using plain language in the vernacular of common sense, this statement of purpose strikes all the right chords without reading like the usual corporate-speak, jargon laden prose most companies fall back on when trying to sound like they take UX seriously. On that note, once you read this you will feel inspired to formulate cross-media bleeding-edge functionalities while engaging intermandated schemas vis a vis leading-edge catalysts for change and intrinsically simplify efficient user-centric design paradigms with worldwide “outside the box” thinking.
Best Bit: “If people looked at a Google product and said “Wow, that’s beautiful!” the User Experience team would cheer.”
