Title: The Top UX Predictions for 2014
Context: It’s a new year. Why wait to see what it has in store for you when someone else can tell you.
Synopsis: Welcome to the future ladies and gentlemen. As we cross over from the old year into the new one there is no better time than to take stock of what we have accomplished over the previous 12 months, and even more importantly, look forward to the things that we will endeavor to accomplish in the next 12. The undeniable truth is that what we do — the crafting of experiences, the curation of behaviors, the creation of tools — grows in importance technologically, professionally, and socially as the world around us become digitized under layers of interfaces that communicate outwardly based on our whims, goals, and desires. Design is the means with which we organize the onslaught of information that people are expected to navigate each and every day. Technology doesn’t make sense to people, the skin we wrap it in does, acting as translator and guide, guardian and surrogate. Whatever may come to pass within the confines of this new year we stand at the forefront, presented with the opportunity to make it better than the one before. Please take every opportunity to do so…
Best Bit: “We interact with scores of interfaces every day, and the processing power that drives these screens has never been higher … and yet, the UIs tend to be one-size-fits all, with limited personalization. With this increasing computing power, one of the only places left to go is leveraging data to create a bespoke experience.”
