Title: Triumph of the Mundane
Context: Smart devices require smart designers to build smarter user experiences.
Synopsis: The internet of things is coming. All of your devices, appliances, vehicles, tools, even the places where you live and work will all be connected – and manageable – in a ubiquitous display of networked intelligence. Managing this multinode system could be a logistical nightmare if we go around slapping microprocessors and mini-touch screens everywhere. Imagine every potential point of access having it’s own unique operating system, user interface and interaction workflows. That wouldn’t be very smart now would it? No, offloading the potentially infinite array of cognitively digestible functionality to a centralized core with platform agnostic technology is much more…what’s the word I’m looking for?…oh yes: smart.
Best Bit: “I’m pretty sure my coffee maker doesn’t NEED apps.”
