Title: Refinements, additions, and un-breaking stuff: iOS 7.1 reviewed

Context: Attention to detail, iteration, and the ability to admit that you may have been wrong are all the hallmark of great software.

Synopsis: Remember when iOS 7 was first released and the world trembled as Jobsian skeumorphism was unceremoniously ripped from the soul of our iDevices? Ah, interesting times those. Now that the shockwaves have subsided and fears quelled as the world continues to spin on its axis, we are able to understand this modern operating system vision with greater and measured appreciation. Even Apple has recovered from the internal tumult that spawned their “flat” OS and has managed to smooth out the rough edges of its initial offering tweaking where necessary but always iterating in search of perfection. So arrives iOS 7.1 with a meager bounty of UI updates for the inattentive but a veritable smorgasbord for those with a keen eye for detail. Into whichever camp you fall, let the passionate trolling commence!

Best Bit: “Apple’s continued experimentation here amounts to an admission that yes, maybe it did go a bit overboard with the thin, light fonts when it was originally designing iOS 7.”
