Not all architects are built the same and what we as UX designers can learn from them.

Title: What I Bring to UX From…Architecture
Context: User experience design…it takes all kinds.
Synopsis: User experience is a relatively new discipline which means that most of its practitioners do not come from a specific UX professional or educational background. Most of us, rather have found ourselves in this space somewhat serendipitously, arriving via other tangentially related design vocations. And that’s just fine. Great actually. How lucky are we to have this incredible wealth of experience and inspiration at our disposal?!?! Few other professions are able to claim as diverse a lineage as the melting pot that user experience design is. Yes, the formalization of UX as a trade and a degree path will lead to new and exciting developments in the industry, but the richness of our design heritage should never be forgotten. We all stand on the shoulders of intellectually and aesthetically diverse giants. Bully for us I say!
Best Bit: “The same holds true for User Experience Design. Nothing will ever get built as planned. Changes need to happen for a myriad of reasons as the implementation is underway, but it’s just a normal part of the process for translating interaction designs and visual designs into products.”
